Stephanie shares a story about a hair stylist she was a customer of for three years and why she stopped being a customer. Some key negative aspects of this particular stylist that stood out to Stephanie were: 

  • The stylist never remember her name 
  • The stylist never organized for her to come back for another appointment or took an interest in her hair goals
  • The stylist didn’t speak to her or try to maintain any type of relationship with her 
  • The stylist and her colleagues within the salon consistently spoke negatively about clients in front of other clients and created negative vibes within the salon

Stephanie talks about how most of us don’t start a business because we’re good business people, but because we’re passionate about it and it’s something we want to do. This is why we hire business coaches or mentors or learn from other people’s experiences through the likes of YouTube and utilize other resources. 

Stephanie shares her tips and advice to what she thinks the stylist could have done to improve her business as a hairstylist: 

  • Provide a good experience. 
  • Most people don’t pay for items they pay for experiences, and they WILL pay for experiences! 
  • Upsell clients into other products and services.
  • Give your clients tips and advice and treat them with good care. Ensure your relationship is not only transactional! 
  • Express interest.
  • Help your clients achieve what their goal is with purchasing your products/services!
