In celebration of Women's History Month and Women's ONLY 1st Friday on the Ever Blazing Friday Show, musical diva JoJo Mac, formerly known as "Goldii" was Empress Skortcher's honored guest Friday March 6th 2015. During the hilariously, edutaining and insightful reasoning, JoJo Mac dropped big "Secrets Mixed Up Moods And Deadly Attitudes" on air. Under the brand JoJo Mac, she has added Author as a title to her many roles as she completes her first fictional novel. She is hoping to release the novel at the end of March 2015.
JoJo has the tenacity to display versatility on any genre of rhythmic grooves and has a knack for being one with the beat. A native of Clarendon, Jamaica, she has been singing since age 3. In her youth, she migrated to the United States of America where she decided to seriously pursue a singing career. She started her very own band and began performing in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia tri-state areas.
With a knock for media/entertainment, JoJo Mac became the host of a cable television show, Reggae On The Move” in Washington DC, while at the same time writing for the Baltimore newspaper “Caribbean Connection,” giving advice to the lovers in a weekly column called “Issues of the Heart.” The Philadelphia resident is currently a news correspondent for several radio stations across the US including Global Linkz Radio and the United Kingdom.
In her roles as singer & songwriter, JoJo Mac, would later release her first album, "Hard and Soft" on "Throb Music" label which was produced by Legendary Derrick "Duckie" Simpson of the group Black Uhuru.
In 2002, veteran singer/songwriter Ernest Wilson heard her singing while hanging out at Big Ship studios and the following day introduced her to the late Clement "Coxsone" Dodd. After hearing her distinctive style in demo, JoJo Mac would go on to record several songs for the legendary Studio One Stable. JoJo Mac, continued recording and performing locally and internationally.
In 2013, she released "Dance Floor" the EP, which shows a different side of her musically, with most of the songs being, just as the EP title suggests, leaves listeners moving on the dance floor.
In 2014, under Mightyful13 Records management, JoJo Mac, would come full circle with Duckie Simpson as she joined the Grammy Winning Black Uhuru's Reggae Band as a vocalist. The Group has since performed on various reggae festivals in the United States.
