Description

Fairfax editor, Gary Linnell, put to NGOs that it is not about what the media can do for them but what they can do for the media

The Centre for Independent Journalism and the Australian Council of Social Services hosted this year’s NGO Media Forum at the NSW Teachers Federation in Surry Hills.

The forum focused on stories that matter in a changing media landscape.

Attendees from the not-for-profit sector and leading Australian journalists discussed issues such as the power of personal narratives and some of the opportunities and threats brought by new technology.

Before lunch a panel of editors and reporters responded to audience participants on how to get important stories told and some of the resource      issues facing print journalism.

I was at the forum and spoke with Fairfax editor, Gary Linnell, and New Matilda editor, Marni Cordell.
