The future of online intimacy
Description
The internet can be a gateway into a plethora of impersonal interaction tempered only by an occasional emoticon. But — as is often the case — technology could be about to change all of that.
Futurist, Ross Dawson — also known for his predictions about journalism and social media –, thinks the web might be able to facilitate inter-personal simulated intimacy.
Based on a handful of products, some in development and others commercialised, Mr Dawson believes the physical and emotional experiences we have touching and kissing someone could eventually be had at a distance…via the web.
He says there is viable evidence to support the idea of remote intimacy and that associated internet-based products are already popular.
I spoke with Ross Dawson about the role of a Futurist and his “future of sex” website.
