Ep 9 David Ball - Be the master of life, relationships and work - Flex @ Work

Workplace Flexibility – Thought Leaders Published 18 July 2016 There are three big domains in life where we are the master of all, or master of none.  So if we are not humming in all three, then we are going to pay a price in all three: Self Relationships Work Have you ever stopped and asked yourself these questions.  Does this serve myself? Does this serve my relationships? Am I being efficient at work? In David’s experience, all of his clients say that they are far more efficient at work after they have seen the big picture in their own life and identified their own three big domains.  For some of Davids clients, flexible work arrangements were the result of becoming aware of the importance of their own well being. You can’t be more self-less than to care for yourself sufficiently well. You need to know a few things about yourself and these are his Top 3 tips for anyone wanting to Live Better: * Know how you define success in life. * Know where you get your self esteem from. * Determine if there is congruency between the first two. If you would like assistance from David to implement these tips in your life, he is offering 10% off his corporate and individual coaching packages until 31 December 2016.  David: +61 406 522 137 or hello@sunshineonlegs.com.au .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 .et_bloom_form_content { background-color: #f25d22 !important; } .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 .et_bloom_form_container .et_bloom_form_header { background-color: #e84200 !important; } .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 .et_bloom_form_content button { background-color: #46bdae !important; } .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 .et_bloom_form_content button { background-color: #46bdae !important; } .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 h2, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 h2 span, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 h2 strong { font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif; }.et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 p, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 p span, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 p strong, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 form input, .et_bloom .et_bloom_optin_1 form button span { font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif; } Stay ConnectedWe want you to know all about flexible work arrangements so you can secure one soon... Ep7 Grant Chapman, Flexible Work Arrangements in an SME - Flex @ Work

Workplace Flexibility – Thought Leaders Published 18 April 2016 Grant Chapman didn’t set out to create a forward thinking, flexible organisation at Integrated Financial Solutions. It just fell into place as he responded to the needs of his team and his business. His employees are permanent employees and all have a flexible work arrangement in place that allows them to be the best they can be at home and at work. Grant talked to Flex Able Jobs about how things evolved in his business and why he is now a firm believer in the benefits of flexible work arrangements. “The key here is that we need to employ professionals who are fully qualified. As a result of that, I had to make a decision and be flexible about what I was going to do to keep those people in the business. You end up with really committed people. We get good outcomes, and they get the flexibility and support from me.” Grant’s Top 3 for tips for making flexible work arrangements a win / win situation: * * Make your business flexible to embrace a flexible outcome for your people. Be willing to embrace change with that. * Have your employment contracts really clear, and know what roles you are filling. * Beyond that, have fun. Embrace what other people want and take the time to understand what is important to them, and help them get it. Ep6 Julie McKay, Workplace Equality - Flex @ Work

Workplace Flexibility – Thought Leaders Published 7 March 2016 Julie McKay wears many hats.  She is the: * Executive Director of the Australian National Committee for UN Women; * Convener for the Queensland Male Champions of Change; and * Gender Advisor to the Chief of Australian Defence Force. We met Julie McKay when she chaired a talk at QUT in 2015 titled 'Gender Diversity is Good For Business’.  One of the talking points was ‘working together for greater inclusiveness and flexibility’. We wanted to know more so we invited Julie to talk to us about how flexible work arrangements binds all three of her roles together.  And how this one key factor -  access to genuine flexible work arrangements - is so important for all women, all around the world. The depth of Julie's knowledge is both profound and insightful.  She believes there are three elements to making flexible work arrangements available and accessible for all and that it will happen through "a combination of legislation, policy and attitudes" Julie believes that the flexible work arrangement discussion needs to move beyond 'part-time' work. "For me where we need to focus the energy and the effort in awareness about flexibility, is about the full-time equivalent worker who is working those hours differently.  A split shift, working part on the weekends, doing the hours in a condensed way.  So part of it is awareness about flexibility" Julie shares her Top 3 for tips for a making flexible work arrangements accessible and the new normal: * Honest Conversation.  CEO's acknowledging that they are no longer getting the full scale of productivity and that something has to change. * Leadership Teams role modelling flexible working. * Share the stories so it becomes okay to work flexibly, reward it even. Ep5 Catherine Allen, Callen Consulting - Coaching Your Transition - Flex @ Work

Workplace Flexibility – Thought Leaders Published 1 February 2016 Catherine Allen talks to Flex Able Jobs about how a flexible work arrangement tends to be the outcome for someone after they get clear about their vision and priorities in life. Catherine Allen's background is in organisational psychology and she has been coaching since 1999.  As a keen observer of people, she noticed that "people fundamentally, right from an early age want to contribute in some way" From this fundamental belief, Catherine works with people to identify what they value, what their priorities are and how they can have their life aligned with those values and priorities. Catherine explained the difference between mentors, role models influencers and coaches.  You pay your coach to hold you accountable for doing what you say you were going to do, to give you the outcome you desire. Catherine shares her Top 3 for tips for preparing for a flexible work arrangement: * Identify what you want. * Work out how you are going to get it. * Have the willingness and courage to ask for what you want. If you have ever wondered how you can use mindfulness to set up your day for success or been confused about whether you need a mentor or a coach or if you are thinking about starting some coaching, this interview is an important first step. Ep1 Introduction - Flex @ Work

Episode 1. Introduction to the Flex @ Work podcast We created the Flex @ Work podcast to support you our listeners in finding a better way to live.  Workplace flexibility is one tool that can support you to find the right balance in your life and work.  More and more organisations are coming to the realisation that a happy employee equals a more productive and engaged employee. The Flex @ Work podcast is the place to come to hear from organisations that walk the talk on flexibility, and where the employees that work in these organisations share how workplace flexibility has helped them to live better. We will also bring you tips and tricks from our Flex Able Jobs partners to help you to make your transition to a flexible work arrangement a success.  We will share inspirational stories on Living Better and how to find the right balance for you. The right balance is so important for us all, although the right balance looks a little different for everyone. Did you know research showed that almost 30% of men under the age of 35 have considered leaving their job due to a lack of flexibility? This was an eye opener for us – traditionally, workplace flexibility has been thought to be the domain for mothers of young children.  This mindset still exists in many organisations, but let us share a secret – there is a change happening.  A paradigm shift is underway.  In many organisations, workplace flexibility is now seen as an important part of the employee value proposition, the way organisations recognise and value their employees.  Employers are showing this is by extending some trust to their people – allowing their employees to have discussions about how, when and where they complete their work. Now let’s be clear – it is not all organisations, and it is not all jobs.  However, at Flex Able Jobs, you will find jobs where you can have the upfront conversation with employers about flexibility options, without the fear of being put in the “too hard” basket. Flex Able Jobs is for women and men – everyone benefits from today’s model of workplace flexibility. This paradigm shift will not happen without you our listeners supporting it.  So please, encourage the conversation of workplace flexibility – ask your employer what flexible work options they offer, and share what you find with us on Facebook and LinkedIn.  And if your organisation does not offer flexible work arrangements seek out another one that does.  One that will value you. Want more? Episode 2 is an interview with Michelle Kretschmer from ANZ . Episode 3 is an interview with Tim Wall from BP Australia.
