Episode 1. Introduction to the Flex @ Work podcast
We created the Flex @ Work podcast to support you our listeners in finding a better way to live.  Workplace flexibility is one tool that can support you to find the right balance in your life and work.  More and more organisations are coming to the realisation that a happy employee equals a more productive and engaged employee.

The Flex @ Work podcast is the place to come to hear from organisations that walk the talk on flexibility, and where the employees that work in these organisations share how workplace flexibility has helped them to live better.

We will also bring you tips and tricks from our Flex Able Jobs partners to help you to make your transition to a flexible work arrangement a success.  We will share inspirational stories on Living Better and how to find the right balance for you.

The right balance is so important for us all, although the right balance looks a little different for everyone.

Did you know research showed that almost 30% of men under the age of 35 have considered leaving their job due to a lack of flexibility?

This was an eye opener for us – traditionally, workplace flexibility has been thought to be the domain for mothers of young children.  This mindset still exists in many organisations, but let us share a secret – there is a change happening.  A paradigm shift is underway.  In many organisations, workplace flexibility is now seen as an important part of the employee value proposition, the way organisations recognise and value their employees.  Employers are showing this is by extending some trust to their people – allowing their employees to have discussions about how, when and where they complete their work.

Now let’s be clear – it is not all organisations, and it is not all jobs.  However, at Flex Able Jobs, you will find jobs where you can have the upfront conversation with employers about flexibility options, without the fear of being put in the “too hard” basket.

Flex Able Jobs is for women and men – everyone benefits from today’s model of workplace flexibility.

This paradigm shift will not happen without you our listeners supporting it.  So please, encourage the conversation of workplace flexibility – ask your employer what flexible work options they offer, and share what you find with us on Facebook and LinkedIn.  And if your organisation does not offer flexible work arrangements seek out another one that does.  One that will value you.
