Ep7 Grant Chapman, Flexible Work Arrangements in an SME - Flex @ Work
Update: 2016-04-17
Description
Workplace Flexibility – Thought Leaders
Published 18 April 2016
Grant Chapman didn’t set out to create a forward thinking, flexible organisation at Integrated Financial Solutions. It just fell into place as he responded to the needs of his team and his business. His employees are permanent employees and all have a flexible work arrangement in place that allows them to be the best they can be at home and at work.
Grant talked to Flex Able Jobs about how things evolved in his business and why he is now a firm believer in the benefits of flexible work arrangements.
“The key here is that we need to employ professionals who are fully qualified.
As a result of that, I had to make a decision and be flexible about what I was going to do to keep those people in the business.
You end up with really committed people.
We get good outcomes, and they get the flexibility and support from me.”
Grant’s Top 3 for tips for making flexible work arrangements a win / win situation:
*
* Make your business flexible to embrace a flexible outcome for your people. Be willing to embrace change with that.
* Have your employment contracts really clear, and know what roles you are filling.
* Beyond that, have fun. Embrace what other people want and take the time to understand what is important to them, and help them get it.
