A lab where the researchers simulate real solar power plants, simulating the sun, as it were. And the solar power that is simulated in this case is concentrated solar power. Concentrated solar power can be stored as heat and could therefore be used even when the sun doesn´t shine, as opposed to solar cells, where light is converted into electricity directly.
In this episode of KTH Tech Talks we meet Björn Laumert, associate professor at the Department of Energy Technology at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management, KTH. Four, five years ago he started KTH Solar Lab together with a number of graduate students and technicians.
