Within 5 years Sweden will be a cashfree society
According to Riksbanken, the Swedish central bank, of all payments made that were made in Sweden 2015 cash transactions made up only about 2 % of the value. And in shops, cash was used for about 20 % of the transactions that were made; to be compared with the global average, which is 75 %.
In this episode of KTH Tech Talks we meet Niklas Arvidsson, associate professor at KTH, specializing in payment systems innovation. He believes that Sweden will become a cashfree society within about five years.
