BMF 020 : How To Discount Your Prices And Not Look Cheap
Update: 2014-05-20
Description
-Show Discussion
Today we discuss how discounting your price can be a huge benefit to your business. When you do this correctly and follow all the steps you can introduce your business to new people who may not have tried your products or service before.
When you have a base price and offer discounts on occasion (a promotion) you will not cheapen yourself.
-The Big Takeaway (Get Fueled Up)
The best way to not cheapen yourself is to establish your base price. Be smart about this, if you are working in the upper end make your prices just below the high end of the market. This will let people know that you are not just a cheap discount place.
You should always make people aware they are receiving a discount. Simply state the regular price then their discounted price and the reason for the discount.
Do not become predictable and run the same special at the same months or time of year. Switch things up, it is great to give discounts to your new and regular customers but you want them to pay full price sometimes as well.
It is ok to go a month or two with no specials and just charge your regular price. You are not a discount outlet that is not what you want to be you just want to have different ways to attract old and new customers to you. You have quality products and services it is ok to get paid for that.
Your regular list price needs to be listed somewhere. Online would be a great place to start, a list on the wall or that can be handed out are also great. This helps establish your regular price and shows people the exact discount they receive when they are getting a deal.
