Description

The trauma of divorce can bring about a complex mix of emotions and behaviours. And, as you navigate the tricky waters of divorce, it is the easiest thing in the world to hide everything inside and pretend that you’re ok. However, this behaviour is self destructive and will only harm you and your loved ones in the future. This week, Ang is here to talk to you about the importance of recognising your negative emotions and behaviours, from guilty mother syndrome to stress, and how to tackle them head on so that you can live your best life.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When you make the decision to end your marriage the impact this has on your children can not be understated. Naturally, this can lead to feelings of guilt and can affect how you behave. Ang discusses how to live with and process that guilt.
  • Like most women, Ang tried to put on a brave face during the early days of her divorce. However, she soon realised that this was not healthy. She explains some of the self care methods she adopted and how they helped her.
  • When Ang started counselling she found that her problems were not only universal and, there were strategies that she could adopt to help herself and her children, which she details here.
  • Stress and divorce go hand in hand. And, stress, if not managed, will only breed more stress. Ang discusses why it is important to recognise the triggers for stress and offers some invaluable tips on how to reduce your level of stress.
