Story Transcript:

Sl: Matevž je stal na robu zamrznjenega Blejskega jezera.
En: Matevž stood on the edge of the frozen Bled Lake.

Sl: Njegov pogled je potoval po ledni površini, kjer so drsalci drsali s spretnostjo in veselim smehom.
En: His gaze traveled across the icy surface where skaters glided with skill and joyous laughter.

Sl: V daljavi je cerkev na otoku sijala pod zimsko sončno svetlobo.
En: In the distance, the church on the island shone under the winter sunlight.

Sl: Okoli njega so bile postavljene stojnice, kjer so ljudje pili vročo čokolado in se greli ob toplih plamenih.
En: Surrounding him were stalls where people drank hot chocolate and warmed themselves by the warm flames.

Sl: To je bil njegov prvi božič v Sloveniji po dolgem času.
En: This was his first Christmas in Slovenia after a long time.

Sl: Matevž je bil poln nostalgije, a hkrati se je počutil kot tujec.
En: Matevž was filled with nostalgia, yet at the same time, he felt like a stranger.

Sl: Skoraj se je premagal občutek, da tukaj ne pripada več.
En: He almost succumbed to the feeling that he no longer belonged here.

Sl: "Lara, res ne vem, če je to zame," je priznal svoji sestrični, ki je stala poleg njega, zavita v debel volnen šal.
En: "Lara, I really don't know if this is for me," he confessed to his cousin who was standing next to him, wrapped in a thick woolen scarf.

Sl: "Ne bodi tak," ga je Lara nežno spodbudila.
En: "Don't be like that," Lara gently encouraged him.

Sl: "Božič na Bledu je nekaj posebnega.
En: "Christmas at Bled is something special.

Sl: Poskusi!
En: Just try!"

Sl: "Polega nje je stala Nika, njuna otroška prijateljica.
En: Next to her stood Nika, their childhood friend.

Sl: Bila je izvrstna drsalka.
En: She was an excellent skater.

Sl: "Matevž, če hočeš, ti bom pomagala.
En: "Matevž, if you want, I'll help you.

Sl: Samo poskusi in se sprosti," je ponudila z nasmehom.
En: Just try and relax," she offered with a smile.

Sl: Matevž je okleval, a nazadnje je sklenil, da bo poskusil.
En: Matevž hesitated, but in the end, he decided to try.

Sl: Počasi je stopil na led, drsalke so zarezale po trdem površju.
En: Slowly he stepped onto the ice, skates cutting into the hard surface.

Sl: Njegova nestabilnost ga je trgala iz cone udobja, a Lara in Nika sta ga vztrajno spodbujali.
En: His instability pulled him out of his comfort zone, but Lara and Nika persistently encouraged him.

Sl: Sprva okoren, je Matevž s časom začel pridobivati na samozavesti.
En: Initially awkward, Matevž gradually began to gain confidence.

Sl: Veter mu je šumel mimo ušes in počasi se je sprostil.
En: The wind whispered past his ears and slowly he relaxed.

Sl: Ko ga je Nika povabila, naj poskusi obrat, se je pustil prepričati.
En: When Nika invited him to try a spin, he allowed himself to be persuaded.

Sl: A trenutek nepazljivosti, in Matevž je izgubil ravnotežje.
En: But a moment of carelessness, and Matevž lost his balance.

Sl: Njegove noge so se zapletle, on pa je skoraj padel;
En: His legs got tangled, and he almost fell; however, Nika caught him before he touched the ice.

Sl: vendar ga je Nika ujela, še preden se je dotaknil ledu.
En: Both started laughing, and Matevž's restraint melted like snow in the sun.

Sl: Oba sta se začela smejati, Matevževa zadržanost pa se je stopila kot sneg na soncu.
En: There was plenty of laughter as they skated onward, with friendship between them and the warmth of companionship shining in the winter evening.

Sl: Smeha je bilo obilo, ko so drsali naprej, prijateljstvo med njimi in toplina druženja sta zasvetili v zimskem večeru.
En: As the sun slowly set behind the hills and stars began to twinkle in the sky, Matevž felt a warmth in his chest.

Sl: Ko je sonce počasi zahajalo za hribe in so zvezde začele utripati na nebu, je Matevž začutil nekakšno toplino v prsih.
En: His uncertainties gradually faded away, and the warmth of the Christmas spirit and the closeness of friends warmed him in a way only homeliness could.

Sl: Njegove negotovosti so počasi izginjale, toplina božičnega duha in bližine prijateljev pa ga je ogrela na način, kot ga je le domačnost zmogla.
En: "You see, it's not so bad," Lara teased him.

Sl: "Vidiš, ni tako slabo," ga je dražila Lara.
En: Matevž smiled and gazed up at the stars.

Sl: Matevž se je nasmehnil in se zazrl proti zvezdam.
En: "You're right," he agreed.

Sl: "Prav imate," se je strinjal.
En: "I am home here."

Sl: "Tukaj sem doma.
En: After that, Lara and Nika invited him to the stalls, where they treated themselves to hot drinks and pastries.

Sl: "Zatem so ga Lara in Nika povabile na stojnice, kjer so si privoščili vroče napitke in pecivo, srce mu je bilo enako toplo kot okolje, kjer je bil zdaj resnično doma, med svojimi.
En: His heart was as warm as the surroundings where he now truly felt at home, among his own.
