A strong storm system in the Northeast is bringing rain at the coast and heavy wet snows in the mountains of Southern New York southward to the Central Appalachians. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are posted for higher elevations. In the Western US a major storm off the Pacific Northwest coast continues to weaken and meander but stormy conditions continue in the Northwest southward into Norther California. Cold air has spread into the Southeastern US and Florida.
