MY VIPASSANA EXPERIENCE - Finding inner peace (and going a little bit crazy)
Update: 2018-04-10
Description
After 2 weeks away on a meditation course, meditating 11 hours a day and not speaking to anyone, I am back with another episode of The In Alignment Podcast.
In this episode I am talking about my Vipassana experience. Firstly I describe what exactly is a Vipassana, for anyone who is unsure..
- Vipassana is a form of meditation rediscovered and practiced by the Buddha 2500 years ago.
- It is very scientific: focusing on body sensations and the breath, truth and reality, rather than more spiritual stuff.
- A Vipassana, means learning the technique over a 10 day course, this is an intense course, meditating about 11 hours a day, in complete silence and having no other distractions (e.g. no technology, reading, writing or exercising)
- It is described as a deep operation- removing all the 'impurities' from our mind and overcoming our negative habits, to liberate us from suffering. However this process is painful and difficult (but worthwhile in the end!)
I then go on to speak about my journey and my experience. I talk about the horror stories I heard before I left and all the anxiety I was feeling, but how when I arrived all of this left me.
I speak about finding peace within myself and making peace with myself.
I also tell the story of what it was like to speak to people again after 10 days of silence.
I summarise this episode sharing my mini realisations I had each day:
- how to live your life to its fullest potential
- that 'none of this really matters'
- 10 things that we can be grateful for everyday
- answering the question WHO AM I
- stepping out of the blame game.
I hope this has inspired you all. Like promised, the centre I went to is called DHAMMA DIPA and is in the UK in Herefordshire. It is completely free and donation based, so you pay whatever you can afford. The food is amazing and it really is a life changing experience. I truly recommend it to anyone who is even a tiny bit curious TOTALLY DO IT!
Thank you so much for listening to another episode of my podcast. I appreciate you all. If you can take the time, please rate and review this podcast as this is very helpful for me.
Thank you again.
Much love
