Who is Josh Alpert for LVUSD School Board 2022?

I am an open-minded forty-six-year-old husband and father of six, including two in the district since 2015. Born and raised in NYC, I am a bi-coastal small business owner and a business consultant to hundreds of small business owners.

My campaign touches on several pressing issues, including school safety, mental health services, financial responsibility, accountability & transparency.

I am a school safety advocate, very passionate about protecting students from the threat of school shooters.  I want security fences surrounding all LVUSD schools.  I am open to arming willing and capable LVUSD employees as the first line of defense to protect our children because our children are sitting ducks.

I have been actively raising awareness in the district regarding the dangers of Fentanyl exposure and consumption. I'm thrilled that LVUSD retained a security firm to deal with the drug problems on campus.

I would like to see LVUSD hire more mental health counselors to better cope with mental health crises because the district is drastically understaffed, and kids will die.

I believe LVUSD schools are excellent regarding teachers, academics, and programs. Still, I think the 94% graduation rate constitutes a wider variety of vocational programs to prevent the 6% of high school students who do not graduate from slipping through the cracks.

I have been hyper-critical of the district for financial mismanagement because the district has millions of dollars per year in net operating losses.  As a businessman, I am concerned that the district is on an unsustainable path to insolvency. The budget in the future is dire, considering the pension obligations plus declining enrollment.

Everyone deserves to have their voice heard.   I'll always listen to recommendations from the community and will always vote with the best interest of the community in my mind, which includes all taxpayers, whether you have children currently enrolled in the district or not.

There are many community members and LVUSD employees with complaints inadequately addressed by the district. The school board is not doing enough to hold the district accountable; I can change that.  I also feel the school board members lack transparency when addressing the community's concerns; I will be as transparent as the law allows. Ninety percent of LVUSD school board meetings have nothing to do with the responsibilities of a school board member.  Eighty percent of LVUSD board members don’t know how to run a compliant board meeting, but I do.
