In episode 44 of the Soulfully Confident Podcast, I am going to share more with you about my relationship with my husband and how I went from a place of resentment to love. It’s a painful place to be when you love somebody so much yet you have this hatred feeling towards them because of built-up frustration that goes unresolved. Today, I want to share my story to help anybody going through the same feeling. Some key points I discuss include: How I was in a victim mindset during my relationship. When I stopped blaming my husband for the way I was feeling. Changing my mindset and showing up differently. No relationship is perfect but you can choose to believe it is. Reflecting on things that have happened in the past helps us prepare and think about what we want. It’s a powerful tool for us to remind ourselves of who we are, what we've done, and the lessons we've learned. Also, you don't need to just do this at the end of the year. It is normal to compare yourself to others and perhaps feel jealous of them. Comparisons can be beneficial at times. They can serve as a guide for progress and act as an inspiration. But when you become fixated on your flaws rather than your strengths, sitting in self-pity rather than appreciating where you are, then you are focused on the wrong thing. Understand that wherever you are right now, that’s where you’re supposed to be… And you have the power to always change that. Stop comparing yourself to others and to past versions of yourself, unless it’s inspiring you, otherwise it is a struggle you’ll never win. Hey everybody! This week I’m sharing a recording of an inner child meditation. Inner child work is an approach to recognizing and healing childhood trauma. It recognizes that our behaviors as an adult stem from our childhood experiences. Inner child work focuses on addressing our unmet needs by reparenting ourselves. I guide my clients through many different meditations and visualizations to help them connect with their inner child to gain healing and deeper love for themselves. We all have goals for ourselves and we want to pursue our dreams with great aspirations…but do we actually do that? Setting objectives is just the first stage; achieving them requires action. It may be exciting to be pregnant but it can also be a delicate period. Aside from the emotional ups and downs, one might doubt their capacity to be a mother, how their relationship may evolve, or their financial stability. What you focus on matters. A lot. You are a powerful co- creator. We all have things about ourselves that we wish were different and oftentimes we don’t allow those parts of ourselves to be seen and heard. When we suppress the emotions and thoughts around these parts of us, it creates shame, confusion and a sense of loneliness. We all have experiences, thoughts and feelings that we wish were different or never happened, but the fact is the human experience includes all sorts of positive and negative and everything in between… and all those parts need to be acknowledged. Essentially, we need to Stop holding that shit in. I want to share my big takeaways from reading the book, Atomic Habits by James Clear. What you consistently do eventually shapes who you are, what you think, and how you present yourself to others. In short, your HABITS shape who you are and your understanding of your identity. And even more interestingly, your identity beliefs (which often sit in our subconscious) shape our behaviors, our habits… This gets tricky, but I dive more into it in this episode. Depending on whether you consider your habits good habits or bad habits, they affect every aspect of your life. They will either lead you to success or jeopardize your goals – finances, health, relationships, etc. But before you can build healthy habits, it’s vital to understand what habits are, how they’re formed, and identify those that you want to change. Our thoughts affect how we feel and act since our thoughts are connected to our emotions and behaviors. And so, even if we all occasionally have negative thoughts (which is really normal), it's crucial to know how to manage them in order to prevent them from destroying our mental health. We need to recognize these thoughts lovingly without judgment and without criticism, and then change them into more useful thoughts. The process of changing negative thinking requires time. Just a little catching up, so I'm back in Holland. We just got back from Peru. My husband and I spent six weeks travelling Peru. We saw a lot, experienced a lot, and met really interesting people. It was a really unique and amazing trip. As we traveled back, had some bad jet lag, I realized even more the importance of a good night's rest. In my lack of sleep, I’m struggling through fatigue trying to solve and figure things out about every area of my life… bad idea! Not a time to try to solve when you’re physically and emotionally tired.But instead of finding a solution, the outcome was more negativity, exhaustion, and stress. Hey everyone! I’m pregnant! But not for the first time because I had a miscarriage about four and a half years ago, but I’ll share more about that another time. I’m almost through almost 16 weeks by the time this show airs. I know all moms will agree that pregnancy is an interesting, big, challenging and beautiful journey. Today, I just want to share with you what I've been feeling, and shed some light and normalize not just the physical challenges, but also, the emotional roller coaster during pregnancy.
