“וַיָּרָץ הָעֶבֶד לִקְרָאתָהּ”, “And the servant ran to meet her” (Genesis 24:17 ), this is Metatron. “וַיֹּאמֶר הַגְמִיאִינִי נָא מְעַט מַיִם מִכַּדֵּךְ”, “And he said, ‘Please give me a little water from your jug to drink'” (Genesis 24:17 ), tell me a hint of wisdom from the knowledge of your Creator, from what you engaged in the world from which you came. Rabbi Abba said: As we explained, after all this, what is written? “וָאָשִׂם הַנֶּזֶם עַל אַפֶּיהָ וְהַצְּמִידִים עַל יָדֶיהָ”, “And I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her hands” (Genesis 24:47 ), Rabbi Abba said: Those bones that were scattered here and there, he joins them and weighs them one upon another, as you say: “וְעַצְמוֹתַיִךְ יְחָלִיץ”, “And your bones will strengthen” (Isaiah 58:11 ).

Rabbi Abba said: At that time, that body stands in the Land of Israel, and there his soul enters him. Rabbi Yochanan said: Who brings the body to the Land of Israel? Rabbi Zeira said: The Holy One, blessed be He, makes tunnels under the earth, and they roll and go to the Land of Israel. This is what is written: “אֶרֶץ רְפָאִים תַּפִּיל”, “The land of the shades will fall” (Isaiah 26:19 ).

Notes:

Righteous bodies roll through divine tunnels to the Land of Israel (אֶרֶץ רְפָאִים) for soul reunion, completing the resurrection.
