“וְיִתֵּן לְךָ הָאֱלֹהִים”, “And God will give you” (Genesis 27:28 ). Rabbi Yossi says: All these blessings were from the portion of Jacob, and he took what was his. And these blessings that were truly Jacob’s portion, Isaac wanted to give to Esau. Therefore, the Holy One, blessed be He, arranged that Jacob would take what was his.

The meaning is: You already know that the matter of the blessings is the giving of strength for the final tikkun. In the secret of “וְצוּדָה לִּי צָיִדָה” with the ה Hei (Genesis 27:3), which hints at the rectification of Malchut of the first restriction (צמצום א), as mentioned above. Whether in the way of Esau or in the way of Jacob, in order to perpetuate that way forever. And it is known that because of the breaking of the vessels (שבירת הכלים), 288 (רפ” ח) sparks of holiness fell to the klipot, as written in the Zohar (Pekudei, #773): sparks that were thrown to 320 directions. Afterward, the Emanator rectified some of them, and because of the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, they fell again to the klipot. And all our work in Torah and Mitzvot is to release these 320 sparks from the klipot and return them to holiness. And they are the secret of the מ” ן (feminine water) that we raise, which draws all the Mochin that exist during the six thousand years that the world exists. And when all the 320 sparks are elevated, that is, through the Mochin drawn from them, then there will be the final rectification (Tikkun).

The explanation of these 320 sparks is this: Eight sefirot, in each of which there were four aspects — Chokhmah, Binah, Tiferet, and Malchut — broke from the ten sefirot of *נקודים (Nekudim), called Da’at, Chesed-Gevurah-Tiferet, Netzach-Hod-Yessod-Malchut. It turns out that 32 aspects fell to the klipot, that is, four times eight. However, since the ten sefirot of Nekudim were included in one another, so that in each one of them there were ten sefirot, it turns out that the 32 aspects mentioned above broke from the ten sefirot that were included in every sefira and sefira, which are ten times 32 aspects, which in gematria are 320 (ש״ך). And you find that because of the breaking of the vessels and the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, the number of 320 aspects fell to the klipot.

And know that not all the 320 aspects were given for work and clarification, but only 288 aspects, which are nine times 32 aspects from the first nine sefirot. But the 32 aspects of Malchut, among them, were not given for our work, and there is no need to elevate them. Instead, with the completion of the tikkun (sparks elevation) of the 288 sparks, these 32 sparks of Malchut are clarified in themselves. And this is what we said above: the totality of all the unions of the six thousand years is the secret of the general union at the final tikkun. For after the elevation of all 288 sparks are completed, since they become מ” ן (feminine water) for the unions of Zeir Anpin and Nukva, through which all the Mochin come out one after another during the six thousand years, then the great union comes, which gathers all these parts into one whole. And from the greatness of this illumination, the 32 sparks of Malchut were corrected and set. And these 32 sparks of Malchut are called the ‘ל” ב האבן’ (heart (לב 32) of stone). And therefore it is said then: “וַהֲסִרֹתִי אֶת לֵב הָאֶבֶן מִבְּשַׂרְכֶם”,  “And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26 ). And with this you will understand that what Isaac said to Esau: “וְצוּדָה לִּי צָיִדָה” with the ה Hei (Genesis 27:3) — his intention was these 32 sparks of Malchut, which are only elevated through the 288 sparks that are gathered together into the secret of the general union. Which gathering is explained in the verses “וְיִתֶּן לְךָ הָאֱלֹהִים” and so on.

* Olam HaNekudim (עולם הנקודים) is a stage in creation that existed after the world of Adam Kadmon, but before the worlds of Atzilut– Beri’ah– Yetzirah– Asiyah (אבי”ע) as we know them.

Jacob rightfully received his blessings (וְיִתֵּן לְךָ) to empower him to raise 288 sparks for final rectification through Torah work.

Come and see: At the hour when that serpent brought the curses upon the world, and the earth was cursed, what is written? “וּלְאָדָם אָמַר כִּי שָׁמַעְתָּ… אֲרוּרָה הָאֲדָמָה בַּעֲבוּרֶךָ”, “And to Adam He said… cursed is the ground because of you” (Genesis 3:17 ), that it would not produce fruit and good things as it should. Against this, Jacob was blessed after the coming of the Mashiach, after the sin of the Tree of Knowledge will be rectified: “וּמִשְׁמַנֵּי הָאָרֶץ”, “and from the fatness of the earth” (Genesis 27:28 ), that is, it will return to its perfection. And against the curse “בְּעִצָּבוֹן תֹּאכְלֶנָּה”, “in pain you shall eat of it” (Genesis 3:17 ), he was blessed against this: “מִטַּל הַשָּׁמַיִם”, “from the dew of the heavens” (Genesis 27:28 ). And against the curse “וְקוֹץ וְדַרְדַּר תַּצְמִיחַ לָךְ”, “thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you” (Genesis 3:18 ), he was blessed against this: “וְרֹב דָּגָן וְתִירֹשׁ”, “and abundance of grain and wine” (Genesis 27:28 ). And against the curse “בְּזֵעַת אַפֶּיךָ תֹּאכַל לֶחֶם”, “by the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread” (Genesis 3:19 ), he was blessed against this: “יַעַבְדוּךָ עַמִּים וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְךָ לְאֻמִּים”, “peoples will serve you and nations will bow to you” (Genesis 27:29 ), that they will work the land and engage in field labor, as you say: “וּבְנֵי נֵכָר אִכָּרֵיכֶם וְכֹרְמֵיכֶם”, “and foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers” (Isaiah 61:5). And Jacob took all of this, this against that, for every blessing was against one curse from the Tree of Knowledge, and he took from his own. And the Holy One, blessed be He, arranged for Jacob to take these blessings and cleave to his place and his portion, and Esau to cleave to his place and his portion. And Rabbi Yossi brings support from this for his words, that the blessings are said concerning the final Tikkun, for then the sin of the Tree of Knowledge will be rectified, and it will be possible to merit blessing against curse, which was not possible before the sin of the Tree of Knowledge is rectified.
