Zohar Vayetze
Continued from previous DZ
#158
Come and see: It is indeed so, for the upper chariot is the patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and King David, who was joined with them. And these four, who are the upper chariots, are the secret of the holy Name YHVH: the letters יה״ו are the secret of the patriarchs, that is, the three lines, and the final ה is the secret of King David, that is, the Nukva. And upon this secret they are: Reuben, Shimon, Levi, who are the three lines יה״ו, and afterward Yehuda, the root of Malchut, which is the final ה of the Name YHVH. And therefore all of them are in this place, that is, in the secret of the chariot. And just as in the chariot, each one of them includes the three lines, so too in the tribes, each one of them includes the three lines.
Notes:
This Zohar connects the upper chariot to Abraham (Chessed), Isaac (Gevurah), Jacob (Tiferet), and David (Malchut), forming YHVH: יה״ו = three patriarchs (right, left, middle lines), final ה = David/Nukva. The first four tribes — Reuben, Shimon, Levi, Yehuda — mirror this structure: Reuben-Shimon-Levi = יה״ו, Yehuda = final ה (Malchut). Each chariot and tribe contains all three lines, reflecting complete unity.
#159
And it is written: “הַפַּעַם אוֹדֶה אֶת יְהוָה”, “This time I will thank YHVH” (Genesis 29:35 ), and she stopped giving birth, etc. This is because here with Yehuda, the four pillars of the Throne were completed: Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet, and Malchut. For Reuben is the secret of Chessed, Shimon of Gevurah, Levi of Tiferet, and Yehuda of Malchut. “הַפַּעַם אוֹדֶה אֶת יְהוָה”, “This time I will thank YHVH.” And he asks: Why did she say, concerning this son, “I will thank YHVH,” and not concerning all the sons? And he answers: Rather, from here we learn that as long as the Congregation of Israel — that is, Malchut — is in exile, the holy Name is not complete. Come and see: Even though three sons were born before she bore Yehuda— which are Chessed, Gevurah, and Tiferet — the Throne was not complete except with Yehuda, who is Malchut; the Throne was completed. And for this reason, she said “הַפַּעַם אוֹדֶה אֶת יְהוָה”, “This time I will thank YHVH” with Yehuda, and not with all of them. And therefore “וַתַּעֲמֹד מִלֶּדֶת”, “and she stopped giving birth.” What is the meaning of וַתַּעֲמֹד, “and she stopped”? It is that the Throne stood upon its pillars, for with Yehuda, the four pillars of the Throne, Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, and Malchut, were completed.
Notes:
Leah’s praise at Yehuda’s birth marks the completion of the Throne’s four pillars: Reuben (Chessed), Shimon (Gevurah), Levi (Tiferet), Yehuda (Malchut). Only with Malchut is the holy Name and Throne complete; her stopping birth signifies the Throne now “standing” fully.

“וַתַּעֲמֹד”, “and she stopped” (Genesis 29:35 ). Another interpretation: Until now, that is, until Yehuda, who is Malchut, “וַתַּעֲמֹד”, “and she stood” in one unity. From here and below, that is, below Malchut of Atzilut, is the world of separation, that is, the three worlds Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah of separation. And if you say: These two sons that she bore after Yehuda, Issachar and Zebulun, are like this, that is, in the aspect of separation, because they were born after Malchut, which is Yehuda. And he answers: No, for these two — Issachar and Zebulun — are joined with Reuben, Shimon, and Levi. For the six ends of the world are as one.
The meaning is: Issachar and Zebulun are the aspects of Netzach and Hod, and they are one with the body, which is Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet. For the six lower sefirot (ו” ק) of the body are Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod. And according to this, Issachar and Zebulun are found before Malchut, which is Yehuda, because they are attached to Chessed, Gevurah, and Tiferet. Therefore, they are not in the aspect of separation. And Yehuda, which is Malchut, also includes Yessod within it.
