Speaker 1: Welcome to the Get Up and CODE Podcast with your host John Sonmez. The only podcast that combines fitness and programming and does it in less time than it takes to finish your workout.
John: Hey John Sonmez here, welcome back to another episode of Get Up and CODE. It’s just me this week. I am trying to set up some interviews. I should have some coming here. So, if you are bored of just hearing me talk don't worry there are some interviews coming. It's a little bit hard to set up interviews when I'm travelling and really working one day a week while I'm here in Europe, but I will be getting some interviews.
I'm going to do a topic today that I'm going to briefly touch on. I might go into more detail later but I thought this was something I've never talked about that a lot of people have confusion about which is the different types of protein powders and different types of protein in general. If you are trying to gain some muscle or trying to supplement your protein intake there is a lot of options out there and I think there’s some confusion about those. So I thought that would make a pretty good episode.
Before I get into that though, I want to give you a couple of updates here. So, you'll notice that this podcast episode is not sponsored by SignalLeaf and unfortunately the reason why is because my good buddy who has been running SignalLeaf for such a long time and hosting Get Up and CODE on SignalLeaf Derrick Bailey has decided to shutdown SignalLeaf just because he has got other things going on and it just was not turning enough profit for him. So SignalLeaf is a really great service. I'm sad to see it go but I definitely supported him in his decision to shut that down because it made sense. He is doing some other things. I'll give him a free plug if you go to watchmecode.com you can check out his videos. He’s doing a lot of java script videos there and doing some very cool stuff with that, so yeah. So sad to see SignalLeaf go but Get Up and CODE will live on.
I believe, by the time you’re listening to this it might be moved over, I've got to move over the episodes and everything to Libsyn. It might still be—I think SignalLeaf will still be around for the next couple of months but no new subscribers, so if you signup for SignalLeaf through this podcast like listening to it definitely go in a talk to Derrick. He should be sending out email for all the SignalLeaf subscribers telling you how can twitch over to Libsyn and get your podcast episodes imported for free and like a free first month and all this. You will be taken cared of so don't worry about that.
Okay, so with that out of the way I want to give you an update on what I've been doing so, I think the last two episode I did an episode when I first got to Paris and then this last episode was me in Berlin again and I talked about stretching and I had mentioned how kind of adapting to the plan like whilst I was going around Paris I was finding I was not going to be able to really lift and I wasn’t going to be able to really run so I was walking a lot. I did the same thing in Berlin here, but then I sort of had this kind of revelation last week and I realized that I was sort of letting things go. I was kind of giving up and I didn't like that because I thought, “Ok, in 3 months' time I'm going to kind of regret if I am not in the gym lifting and if I'm not running.” So I thought about what could I do and I said, “Well, there has got to be a gym near me here in Berlin. Berlin's a big city I can even take the subway anywhere now.”
So I actually found a gym that's in a walking distance and I signed up for a month membership I think it was something like 60 or 70 Euros so...
