Story Transcript:
Sl: Matej je hitel po ulicah Ljubljane, listi so padali na tla in ustvarjali pisan tepih pod njegovimi nogami.
En: Matej was hurrying through the streets of Ljubljana, the leaves were falling to the ground creating a colorful carpet under his feet.
Sl: Jesen je že dodobra prevzela mesto, vonj po kostanju je polnil zrak, in ljudi so že vneto razpravljali o prihajajoči noči čarovnic.
En: Autumn had already fully taken over the city, the smell of chestnuts filled the air, and people were already eagerly discussing the upcoming Halloween night.
Sl: A Matej ni imel časa za praznične misli.
En: But Matej didn't have time for festive thoughts.
Sl: Bil je zaskrbljen zaradi neke druge zadeve.
En: He was worried about another matter.
En: When he entered the central police station, he was greeted by the hustle and bustle of officers rushing back and forth.
Sl: Stene so bile okrašene s papirnatimi pajki in netopirji, kar se je nekoliko odbijalo od resnega vzdušja policijske postaje.
En: The walls were decorated with paper spiders and bats, which somewhat contrasted with the serious atmosphere of the police station.
En: Just at that moment, Nina, a police officer who took her job very seriously, was walking by with a pointed witch's hat on her head.
Sl: Matej je stopil k pultu, kjer je Nina sedela, zaposlena s smešnimi papirji.
En: Matej stepped up to the counter where Nina was sitting, occupied with funny papers.
Sl: Njene misli so bile še vedno pri dekoraciji, namesto pri dokumentih pred njo.
En: Her thoughts were still on the decoration rather than the documents in front of her.
En: "Hello, I'd like to report a missing bike," Matej began shyly.
Sl: "Ah, pozdravljen," je rekla Nina, njen glas topel a nekoliko raztresen.
En: "Ah, hello," Nina said, her voice warm but slightly distracted.
Sl: "Najprej, srečna noč čarovnic!
En: "First, happy Halloween!
Sl: Vaše kolo, povejte več, kako izgleda?
En: Your bike, tell me more about how it looks?"
En: "It's a brown bike, an old Schminder, with silver handles," Matej explained, increasingly worried but trying to be as clear as possible.
En: "It's really important to me, as I use it to get to university."
En: Nina frowned slightly as she finally focused and began to take notes.
Sl: A njene misli so skakale k njeni jutranji vožnji na kolesu, ki ga je našla zapuščenega pred nekaj dnevi blizu reke.
En: But her thoughts flashed to her morning ride on a bike she found abandoned a few days ago near the river.
Sl: "Zelo podobno kolo sem videla," je rekla naglas.
En: "I saw a very similar bike," she said out loud.
Sl: Zvok jesenskega vetra je napolnil prostor ob odprtju vrat.
En: The sound of the autumn wind filled the room as the door opened.
Sl: Matej je pogumno nadaljeval: "Potrebujem svoje kolo nazaj, resnično, brez njega sem izgubljen.
En: Matej continued bravely: "I really need my bike back, without it, I'm lost."
Sl: "Nenadoma so se Ninine oči zaokrožile.
En: Suddenly, Nina's eyes widened.
Sl: "Matej," je rekla s presenečenjem v glasu.
En: "Matej," she said with surprise in her voice.
En: "I think I'm the one riding your bike.
Sl: Mislila sem, da je zapuščeno.
En: I thought it was abandoned."
En: Matej stared at Nina, first in shock, then slowly smiling.
Sl: "Ali to pomeni, da bom dobil nazaj svoje kolo?
En: "Does this mean I'll get my bike back?"
Sl: ""Seveda!
En: "Of course!"
Sl: " je rekel Nina, njeno lice je pridobilo rdeči odtenek zaradi zadrege.
En: Nina said, her cheeks gaining a reddish tinge due to embarrassment.
Sl: "Takoj vam ga vrnem.
En: "I'll return it to you right away.
En: Let me make it up to you: I can give you a ride home if you like."
Sl: "Matej je zdihnil olajšano in prikimal.
En: Matej sighed with relief and nodded.
Sl: "Hvala, to bi bilo super.
En: "Thanks, that would be great."
En: Soon, Nina and Matej, he on his bike and she struggling with the witch's cloak, rode through the city.
En: Matej realized that something as simple as clear communication could resolve unexpected problems.
En: And Nina, with new caution in her mind, promised she wouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly again.
En: Thus ended Matej's adventure with the bike, resolved in the light of the autumn sunset, carrying the learned lesson with him as part of his new city life.
