Andrew Barnsley
Description
Broadcast Date – October 8, 2025
Our chats will be just that, very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable. And what a treat it was to connect with today’s guest, who has officially achieved Kindred Spirit of the Highest Order status, not only because of his ties to amazing Atlantic Canadian productions but because of his family ties too. Now, for the sake of full transparency, his was a name I hadn’t heard until recently. And don’t get me wrong – I’ve been enjoying a ton of his projects for years and years now. It’s just that with his role as Executive Producer, he’s content to stay well behind the scenes. Especially being surrounded by expert crews and brilliant creatives on productions like the Emmy and Golden Globe winning SCHITT’S CREEK and Canadian Screen Award winning SON OF CRITCH – so you best believe we’ll talk about his work with those incredible shows and so much more, including the very big job description of an Executive Producer and his remarkable path to that position. We’ll also get the inside scoop on the history-making night when SCHITT’S CREEK completely cleaned up at the Emmys and hear the latest on his massive plans for Latitude 47, Atlantic Canada’s first purpose-built film & television soundstage in Newfoundland and Labrador. Plus, we’ll hear all about his other big job as President of The Toronto Film School and how their students are being celebrated on screens around the world. We’ll also get to 1st Things First, play an enlightening round of INsights IN 10 and even spin some of his favourite tunes along the way. So with all that ahead, we best get to it. Here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Andrew Barnsley. (you’ll find the podcast player at the bottom of the post)
