Mary Janet MacDonald
Description
Broadcast Date – October 1, 2025
Our chats will be just that, very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable. Rest assured, today’s show ticks all the boxes and then some, no surprise really when you consider today’s guest has been broadcasting her own unique blend of it from her Port Hood kitchen in Cape Breton for over 5 years now. Yes indeed, what began as a well-natured recipe sharing during those home-bound days of COVID has turned her into an internet sensation and a best-selling author to boot. Which brings us to the reason we’re celebrating today, the official release date of her 3rd incredible cookbook from her signature Tunes & Wooden Spoons series entitled – “Come In, The Kettle’s On!” A collection of recipes from grandparents around the Maritimes, lovingly curated and captured through sweet stories and delightful pictures. So we’ll most definitely talk about that brilliant book and so much more. Including all the warm welcomes she and her daughter Margie received during the compilation, and the tremendous amount of work behind the scenes that goes into writing a cookbook. We’ll also dish on the famous folks she’s hosted for those special live sessions in her kitchen and learn how she manages to please her own majorly big family at mealtime. We’ll talk about her growing fan base, learn which big-time Canadian talent is on her wish list to cook with and hear why she adores living on Cape Breton Island. Plus, we’ll get to 1st Things First, play an enlightening round of INsights in 10 and even spins some of her favourite tunes along the way. So with all that ahead we best get to it. Here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Mary Janet MacDonald. (You’ll find the player at the bottom of the post)
